All the same, this is the guy who lost his kids. Blaming him for it strikes me as blaming the victim in this situation, as much as blaming her does.

Well, I've heard a bunch of "oh my god how could she do that she's horrible and should get the chair!" talk from people about her. And I honestly think that if there has to be 'blame' in the situation . . . it doesn't mean that I don't feel awful for those kids, or that I think he's rejoicing over his children being gone. But in the end, he was sane, and she wasn't. And the consequences for ignoring the doctor's warnings were horrible.

(I will chalk some of this up to reading the short story The Cold Equations at probably far too young an age. ;-))

I agree completely. That comment ruffled my feathers a little too. I don't like it when feminism is taken to the point of LET'S VERBALLY ATTACK EVERYTHING WITH A PENIS. Not fair at all.

It wasn't verbally attacking everything with a penis. If it was, I wouldn't have linked to it because I'd disagree with it, too. :-) It was focused on a guy who ignored a doctor's instructions and several other warning signs in regards to his wife's health.

It was the condesending tone of the poster. It came across as 'women are blameless, men should be castrated.' Might not be what was meant, but that's how it came across.

*shrug* I honestly saw nothing of broad male/female generalizations in her talking about specific people in a specific case. (I make no claims as to everyone in the comments, since I haven't read all of those yet)

You'll just have to ignore me, because I'm honestly not sure I even agree with the ruling.

as in, you don't think she's crazy? That she never suffered from PPD?

My views on the insanity defense in general are extremely muddled and jaded. It's very difficult to prove if someone was or wasn't in their right mind and responsible for their actions at the time of the crime.
