Watched Hotel Rwanda last night after Chris got home.

Want to know how good it was? It kept me up until midnight when I had to get up at 5 a.m. and I did not care. Chris, who normally falls asleep at the first hint of 'political movie', thought it was excellent.

Go watch. Now. :-)

Off to run errands and pay bills. . .

Don Cheadle and Sophie Okendo deserved every bit of recognition (which was far from enough) for what they brought to their roles.

I love this film, so glad to hear someone else did too.

Yeah, the entire movie just floored me. I loved how they brought attention to every level of it-- the nurse doing what she could; the U.N. peacekeeper having to decide whether or not to follow the 'no shooting allowed' rule when it came down to it; the reporter getting the footage even though he knew exactly how the world at large would likely react to it; the politicians hemming and hawing over whether or not to use the term 'genocide'; but all the while the main focus staying exactly where it should be . . . on the innocent people caught in the middle of the entire mess.

I am on a strict diet of no sad, depressing, deep or (intentionally) horrifying movies, but as soon as I am weaned back to those I'll add this one to my list.
