Nice change of pace

I opened the mailbox to see a self-addressed envelope. Me-- "Okay, who sent a rejection slip now?" (my self-confidence is just through the roof, really) ;-) Then I recognized that it was from the Eerie Horror Film Festival-- "How can they be sending a 'sorry' letter; I thought the judging didn't happen until later this year??"

So I opened it, and found a handwritten note:

"Hi Stephanie! Your submission arrived safe and sound! All the best-- (can't make out the signature) Good luck"

After sending things off to a ton of places that just send rejection slips when they bother to send any acknowledgment at all, that was very nice to get.
