changeyourstars8: (Sawyer vs. the tarp)

Some thoughts other than my happiness at seeing Sawyer and Sayid wet and half-naked. ;-) Spoilers under the cut.

I seriously don't even know where to begin. So let's start with the Michael-hate, since it was all over this episode. *s*

Man, I couldn't even be happy that he and Walt were reunited, that was how mad Michael has made me lately (okay, I can be happy for Walt, but other than that...). That he was leading them to someplace other than the beach? I so did not call that; my heart leapt up in my throat when I saw where the smoke was and realized what that meant. You win this round, LOST writers.

But anyway, Michael has concrete evidence that these people are willing to go into a dangerous situation for his son's sake (Sawyer even got shot for him once!) and instead of telling them the truth, he leads them to their possible deaths-- because really, it is a whole new level of stone-stupid + denial to take seriously the words "we won't hurt them" from the people who've already killed one of their own and nearly killed another one. If he'd just told the full truth, they would've listened and come up with a better plan. And then he sees them trapped and gagged and he leaves them behind anyway because he is just that much of a weasel. The only reason I wasn't wishing for that boat to blow up was because Walt was also on it.

Also, I have a strong suspicion that Henry and crew are pulling some kind of psychological experiment, just to see if Michael really would go through with all of it and abandon the people who'd helped him. I'm probably wrong, but hey.

But any hate I felt for Michael was basically canceled out by the love I felt for Desmond. How awesome was he? And I don't want him to be dead, dammit.

Locke, however, can go ahead and be deceased. I was almost starting to growl at the TV every time he came on. It was perfectly awful how he was going on about Boone 'being stupid enough to believe he knew what he was talking about' (nice way to blame him instead of putting responsibility where it belongs, jerk) and how that was why he died, all the while leading someone else toward his death because he's once again sure that he's right. Is it me, or did Locke seem like a little kid who's just discovered Santa Claus isn't real, and instead of keeping it to himself, he has to run and tell all the younger kids and upset them, too? He's just . . . ugh. "I was wrong." I would've given anything for Eko to smile sarcastically and say, "No shit?" But hey, network TV.

Speaking of ugh, what the blazes was going on with Charlie?! Locke and Eko are quite possibly dead, and instead of seeming to care at all, he just says one throwaway line about, "Oh, they're not back yet?" and then sits there and flirts with Claire. And she kissed him. Bleh. Claire, I had more respect for you than that. But after the last episode where you apparently accepted some kind of vaccine from him when you don't even really know what it is or what the long-term effects are, my faith in your brain power is not so high.

And much like Desmond made up for Michael, Sun made up for Claire. "You need someone to help translate, and two people to sail." "Desmond sailed alone." "And look where he is now." Sun = mega-awesome.

The partial statue with four toes? Freeeeeaky.

Hurley confronting Michael about Libby, and saying, "But even if you'd thought about it, you still would've killed her. Right?" just about broke my heart. If I hadn't wanted Michael to take a long walk off a short pier into a pit of rabid hyenas, I would've wanted it then. ((and clarification: I am not saying that his desire to get his son back is bad, or that it doesn't make what he does understandable. Just that it doesn't make it right in any way, and that his obvious disloyalty and willingness to throw away countless lives in exchange for his son's without even looking to see if there's another way out is wretched))

At least there was marginally more Sayid in this episode than there has been for most of this season. ;-) And him going around the village, and gradually getting the feeling that he's searching an empty stage and wondering who might be in the audience watching? Eeee.

Talk about flashback hair-- what is up with Libby having a different hairstyle every time we see her? I want more of her backstory, darnit. Now.

How long until next season??
