Trip to Vermont
Aug. 17th, 2004 06:53 pmWhere to start. :-)
We crammed a *lot* of stuff into the week we were up there-- went up on Owl's Head mountain and Mt. Mansfield, toured Ben and Jerry's, shopped, went to Maine and swam in the ocean...
And, of course, Kath and I wrote. *S*
We've been writing together for almost six years now, but we hadn't yet met each other face to face. It was great to finally get a chance to talk to her in person. :-)
As for Vermont itself, I loved it. Of course, we weren't up for a Vermont winter.
But we went to the farmer's market in Kath's hometown, and I swear it was hippie central. A lot of the women in peasant skirts and the guys with braids in their hair, and there was a guy sitting on the street corner meditating. I was looking around thinking, "My people."
Because of the constant jokes my dad makes about my flower-child-ness, I got a bumper sticker that says, "Tree-Hugging Dirt Worshipper". And I got a couple of name books for further character reference, a Fangoria book for my younger brother, and enough maple candy/syrup/taffy to last at least a couple of months (or, the way I go through sugar, a couple of days).
Part of me wanted to stay longer, but it is good to be back home. What's not good, is unpacking. Yeep.
