Review of Heroine Addiction
Jun. 15th, 2011 07:13 pmThe short and sweet version:
Go. Buy.
The longer:
Basically, it makes me want to be a superhero so I can jump forward in time, read all of her other books and then jump back again.
If this opening line appeals to you--
"Vera, there's a supervillain at booth five."
-- then you need to read Heroine Addiction. The characters are fantastic, it's sweet in parts without being sappy, and while it does deal with superheroes and supervillains and crazy plots to take over the world, the author never veers into Character Death to Prove She's Edgy territory. Cannot recommend it enough.
I'll leave you with another short excerpt that I loved:
"I suppose I should just be grateful he hasn't gotten bored enough to turn the ketchup bottle into a miniature nuclear device while he waited. He's done it before, and those things are a bitch to dispose of when you don't have a radioactive hamper on hand."
