my parents' cat had a run in with kidney stones about 10 years ago. It sounds like they were acting similarly. It was touch and go at first, but the vet was able to save him, and once they changed the cat food in the house, we didn't have a repeat. He's now almost 15 and still kicking. So, hopefully, the vet will be able to help your kitty too.
