Writing projects are going well; I've set up a kind of schedule for myself so far as solo work goes. From now until December, I'm going to be working on a screenplay for next year's Eerie Horror Film Festival and a Christmas present project for Kath (by the way, buddy, my lips are sealed as to further details. One could say I am beyond evil for even mentioning it six months in advance, but I can live with that. Heh heh). After the baby's born, I'll work on editing the Karavan series.

And maybe I'll even update my website somewhere in there. Stranger things have been known to happen.

Anyway, pictures!

All this work was done in three days' time-- hooray for the credit card, and for help from Chris's dad and one of his friends. lol Chris is waiting to finish because it's been so humid here lately that the mud is taking forever to dry, so the mudding/sanding part of it is taking longer than intended. More pictures will be uploaded once the room's painted and some stuff's moved in. :-)

I got a 'Happy Birthday' email from Kath, and the attachment? Was a portrait of my character Ki'Rana.

Big thank you to Kath! And Laura, I don't know you yet, but if you yourself are anything like your art, then you're awesome. :-D

And speaking of Ki'Rana and other characters from the Karavan series-- new writing project is being launched today. *evil plotting laughter* There will be a post on that soon. . .

That was a lot of emails to go through. lol

A little while back I decided to reorganize my email-notes folder, separating them out by series. What it came down to was this:

Random babble, and talk about solo projects: 264 pages.
Stealing Time series: 158 pages.
We Were Strangers series: 166 pages.
Karavan series: 310 pages.

In conclusion . . . we're still under 1,000 pages, Kath. Obviously, we need to get to work. ;-D

Going to go through the saved-email files that I have for Kath and I to see if I can find other notes and ideas (mainly for the WWS series). Try to get things organized, etc. I think I'm going to split it into three files-- the We Were Strangers series, Karavan, and Stealing Time. Maybe four if I decide to make a Misc. file.

It'll take me longer than today, though, since the first email I have is from Sept. 15, 1999. :-D

Another day, another rejection slip (this time an e-mail from the Nelson Literary Agency). I swear, I don't know why I worried about asking guys out on dates when I was younger. I'm a writer! I thrive on rejection! ;-)

Time to try again.

In other news, I think I'm going to update my website today. And maybe make a few more soundtrack-cover-art pieces. I did a Karavan one for a contest, but Kath and I do have two other series, so. . .

This is a neat idea.

And this time I can blame [livejournal.com profile] awritersfantasy for my utter lack of productivity today. ;-) Go here to make some of your own.

Don't expect much coherency out of these reviews . . . lol

Chris and I are planning to watch one episode a night, until the weekend when I don't have to be up at 4 a.m., at which point we're probably going to be pulling an all-nighter watching the rest. :-) Spoiler-stuff under the cut.

Here's what I've been doing all afternoon-- uploading reading material. I haven't put up links on my website to any of these new pages yet; figured that I'd give the people on my friends list first reading opportunity. ;-)

The first chapter of We Were Strangers.
Purchase information is also on this page.

The first chapter of Unexpected.
Purchase information is on the page for this one, too. This is the sequel to WWS, so the chapter does contain major spoilers if you haven't read the first book. :-)

Heaven Must Lose
A horror story that I wrote about three years ago.

And I put up four background stories for various Karavan characters:

Kynn and Anabel

Thiare

Va'Heta and Ki'Rana

Anabel

Hope you enjoy the stories! ((and Debi, if you and Mary would be interested in making illustrations for any of these, let me know! :-)))

Third and final (for now ;-)) character portrait by Alexandra Mihai done-- Reeza, in Megara's style.

Second picture from Alexandra Mihai (the Disney-style portraits of Karavan characters) is Anabel Oliver, in Belle's style.

Just got this in from Alexandra Mihai (check out her art here). As soon as I saw her work, I knew I had to request a few Disney-fied Karavan characters. *S* Two more are on the way, but I'm not going to say who because I'm evil like that. ;-)

First up-- Thiare, in Ariel's style.

Okay, so I'm not an expert icon maker, but I'm pleased with this new one I just made. :-) I used a portrait of my character Ki'Rana (done by the ladies at Warsheep Productions) and the words on it are from the Big & Rich song posted below . . . Kath sent it to me a while back telling me that it really reminded her of this character, and I very much agreed. :-)

((5 icons now, by the way. Still searching for a sixth))

Holy Water

Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I used to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell
Someone ran away with her innocence
A memory she can't get out of her head
I can only imagine what she's feeling
When she's praying, kneeling at the edge of her bed
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's looking through the faces, the unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she cries
She just needs a little help
To wash away the pain she's felt
She wants to feel the healing hands
Of someone who understands
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

That was so. much. fun.

I took about a roll and a half of pictures (will put some up once I get them developed), and bought a bunch of stuff-- some artwork, which I won't be scanning any of, 1) copyright stuff, and 2) some of them are Christmas presents (waves to Kath and Ashley ;-)); a candle purple-glitter rose for Mom; a dragon temporary tattoo for Devin; and a little pink dish and some worry-stones from a glassblower's shop. I also bought two lip balms (Cocoa Mint and Maple Nut) from a cute little store that was handing out cards with a URL on them ( www.myladyschamber.com ) which I haven't checked out yet but I will.

And I was looking at these really gorgeous hairpieces that were either gold or silver with beads woven in, but they started at 35 dollars and the really long ones went up to about 150, and I was like, "Pretty, really pretty, but nnnnn."

So we went to wander around shops some more, and then we went to a jousting match, and the benches were a bit narrow and a little too high off the ground, so Chris stood behind me, and a couple of minutes after we got there I felt him put something on my head as he said, 'happy birthday'. *G* It's a gold hairpiece with purple beads; pictures of that will *definitely* be posted soon.
He has to go to St. Paul today to help finish taking out some of the concrete porch in front of the house (or rather, the foundation) but he should be back tonight. And he made me breakfast before he left. :-)

Speaking of pictures--

This is what Kath ordered from Warsheep Productions and surprised me with today. It's of two of our characters, Trader and Ki'Rana-- more information will be up on my website soon; will post the link. :-) Thanks thanks and thanks again to her (and Debi and Mary).

((ETA: The scene has been put on this new page, here.))

I am going to be so hyper for the rest of the day now. lol

Going through older emails and saving some of them, and I ran across one where I emailed Kath the lyrics to Vertical Horizon's song "Forever" and told her that she had to hear it because it really reminded me of Kynn and Maiza (two of our characters), and as I was reading that email, guess what song came on the radio.

:-)

Help, I've found another online addiction. LOL One of the members of a Lost journal made some dolls for the characters, and I've been fiddling with the program for the last couple of hours.

Here's me....
