changeyourstars8Well, I got home from work and Chris told me that mom had called earlier-- our cat Miracle passed away this morning.
He stayed at the house because the electrician's there, and I came over to talk to mom, but found that she'd gone ahead and left for work after all. Must've just missed her; the dryer was running.
I forget what year we got Miracle-- though I was pretty young-- but I remember the day was July 5. We'd had a big storm on the 4th of July, and the next morning mom went out to survey the damage to her plants out front. I walked by the door several moments later, and heard dad saying something about, "Do not tell Stephanie about this". Which of course perked my ears up like nobody's business, and I headed outside.
A little white kitten had come out from underneath one of the cars parked across the street and run over to mom as soon as she'd come outside. I quickly started with the classic child's campaign of "Please can we keep her pleeeease?" We ended up naming her Miracle because dad said it was a miracle we decided to take in the little hairball. ;-)
She stayed tiny all her life, and very very prickly (she'd constantly walk up to one of the larger cats, hiss, swat him, and then curl up and go to sleep). Of the four cats, she also had the worst health-- teeth problems, fur falling out, etc. so in a way this isn't surprising, but still.
Going to go think up a story now and try to cheer up.
