Oh my god.

Residents of a suburban Denver neighborhood are struggling to come to grips with the gruesome discovery of a woman's body that had been dragged along a paved road through a pastoral subdivision, leaving a long trail of blood and questions.

The thought of what that poor woman went through is bad enough, but then I got to the end of the article and found this gem:

"The blood has been cleaned off the road but traces remain, upsetting neighbors, Foley said.
"We don't want to attract any more attention that what we're already getting. This is our little piece of heaven," she said."

I think that answers the question, "How much of an insensitive ass can one person be?" once and for all.

I'll keep an eye out for updates; hopefully they'll arrest whoever's responsible for this soon.

And on the 'good news' side, Mother reunited with newborn.

((ETA: Suspect arrested in dragging case.))

Sounds to me like they're worried about gawkers and atrocity tourists, not how pretty and clean their roads are.

It still strikes me as an odd thing to be talking about, considering what happened. But then again, I could certainly be wrong-- the second link about the story has the same quote, but framed this way:

"She said sheriff's patrols have increased and residents are more vigilant.

"We don't want to attract any more attention that what we're already getting. This is our little piece of heaven," she said."

Which makes it sound a lot more like your interpretation, rather than linking it with, 'the blood on the road is upsetting neighbors'.

Yeah, if people were just upset about blood on the road, they could hose it down themselves, y'know?

What I'm waiting for is how this will turn into more issues about immigration and the Mexican border and the problem of violence against women will be a moot point.

Yeah, that's what I'm predicting, too. :-P
