Today's my father's birthday. For background, he's a Republican and I'm . . . well, yeah. ;-) So we tease each other constantly. And when he came into the donut shop this morning, I couldn't resist.

Me: *in full Susie-Sunshine chirpy mode* "Hey dad! Guess what? For your birthday, I got you the Democrats in control of the House! Aren't you just thrilled?"
Dad: *mimes throwing up*
Me: "Great! Glad you like it. I'll see what I can do about the Senate."
Dad: "Joy. . ."

Oh, dad and I have been through some serious verbal fisticuffs over the years. We still growl at each other sometimes, but for the most part we've reached the "I'm not going to change your mind, you're not going to change mine, so let's just snark at each other because that's what we're best at anyway" point. ;-)

And yeah, it's nice to exchange good phone calls about elections for once. lol I know I'll be getting a happy call from one of my friends soon-- 'happy' meaning 'hold the phone away from my ear or the shriek will deafen me'.
