Answer: Fangirl geekiness. ;-) I used to be a member of a Christian Slater fanclub, and one day we were discussing our hobbies and I mentioned writing. Another woman there said, "Really?" and we got to talking about it and exchanging stories, and now she's my best friend and we've written about eight or nine novels. We Were Strangers, our first one published, is the first one we worked on.
As for how-- I found out about a self-publishing house called iUniverse that looked interesting, and Kath and I decided to give it a shot. We're still looking for an agent and sending out query letters so that we can hopefully get the kind of published that means 'they pay us', but right now it's just awesome to know that people can buy something we've written. *s*
And that fact sounds like it has an interesting story behind it. lol
