Okay then--- here are most of the entries from my blog. But first, two of the webcomics that I read all the time--

Check them out. *s*
August 15
Well, I'm on Cloud Nine. :-)
The movie premiere for Baby's Breath (www.babysbreaththemovie.com) went wonderfully-- it was held in Wichita, and after the first showing the actors and actresses got to hurry outside, down the street a couple of blocks to where limos were waiting (the press was there in-between the 6:00 and 9:00 showings, so the whole walk-down-the-red-carpet thing was done in between showtimes, just before the reception).
Movie itself was a lot of fun-- it was highly surreal to watch the scenes I'd seen being filmed, and even *more* surreal to actually see myself onscreen. lol
After the reception, my friend Ashley and I went to IHOP (you should've seen some of the looks we got, considering the fact that we were both in fancy clothes... :-)) so we could grab some food and babble for a bit.
Another good thing about the day- the Old Warren theater is set up so that movie ads play on a big screen above the doors...and as Ashley and I were leaving, an ad for The Order started playing. We stuck around for a couple more minutes to watch. ;-)
August 30
Reason number one why my friend Rose and I should not be loose on an unsuspecting populace.
Phone conversation----
Rose-- "--so anyway, then I...hey! No!"
Me-- "What?"
Rose-- "I'm playing Collapse and I have one line left. Eeeeeeek! *sounds of frantic clicking* Almost got... AAAAA! *I hold the phone away, but not in time* NOOOOOOO! I was ALMOST there!"
Me-- "Mmm-hm. Now, if we could have a funeral for my ear?"
Rose-- *starts blowing her nose to the tune of 'Taps'*
Sept. 7
Bought a bike the other day! Hadn't ridden one in at least five years. Which means--
My brother and I headed to the rental store, and whereas he (at 13) is tearing around and taking sharp turns with no problems, I (at 21) am coming close to a nervous breakdown. "I'm going to go off this sidewalk and right into the road I swear it and why are these sidewalks so *bumpy* and there is no *way* I can make this turn and ohhhhhhhh crud, downhill slope going too fast going waaay too fast eeeep"
I'll get used to it again, I'm sure, but not 'used to' the way I was when I was younger.
Sept. 8
Opening night for The Boy from Oz is October 16-- my 22nd birthday.
I, naturally, feel that this is a sign from God that I'm supposed to go to this show. ;-) Too bad my checkbook feels otherwise.
I missed Christian Slater's run in Side Man (still kicking myself) and I promised myself that I wouldn't let anything similar happen again... looks like this is going to be one of those promises I can't keep, though. We'll see. Ah, the trials and annoyances of living in Kansas. :->
On the good side, auditions for the college play are tonight and tomorrow. So, expect updates about that soon.
And (big 'and' :-)) my friend Kath is back home, and therefore checking mail again!! It had been a boring several days since I couldn't talk/write with her-- though she did call me from her hotel, which was cool.
Sept. 9
The Order opened on Sept. 5-- but it is not in our local theater.
Hopefully they'll get it in...their track record for Heath Ledger movies is so/so. They never got Four Feathers, they did get A Knight's Tale (and I promptly set up camp in the front row), they got Monster's Ball (for about five days, solely because of the Oscar buzz), so we'll see.
And speaking of unavailability, if the Sci-Fi channel doesn't start running Roar again very quickly, I'm going to spontaneously implode. They left it with the last two episodes still-unseen...which is *not* a nice thing to do. I want to know what happens!!!! Eep.
Well, at least I still have my Quantum Leap tapes.
Speaking of horror movies, I enjoyed The Ring. It didn't fall back on the gore-effects all the time, and the end scene ((**spoiler warning**)) where the girl crawls out of the TV.... eeeeeeeeeee.
I was sitting front row for that movie, too, and by the time that scene was over I had my knees drawn up to my chest and I'd practically burrowed down into my coat. My brother wasn't faring much better.
Of course, as soon as we got home, he was full of, "That was so cool!" remarks and claiming that he hadn't been *really* scared...
At the time, he was facing the TV-- and dad quietly picked up the remote and turned it on, at which point my oh-so-calm sibling jumped at least a foot into the air.
That was a good day. :-)
Sept. 21
You know, the point in Somewhere in Time where Richard first sees Elise's picture, and the theme music starts playing and he walks forward... that is just a great little moment. *sigh*
And while I do have What Dreams May Come, I haven't yet found a copy of Richard Matheson's Bid Time Return (which is what Somewhere in Time is based on). Must rectify that.
Sept. 25
Well, I saw the 1998 remake of Psycho the other night.
Mixed feelings on it-- I love both Julianne Moore and Viggo Mortensen, and I thought they did really good jobs. William H. Macy ruled (and I loved his little improv with the falling-down-the-stairs bit during the end interviews). Vince Vaughn was suitably creepy . . . though possibly a bit too creepy sometimes. If I'd been Marion Crane, right around the point when we were in the back of the office and he started getting angry, I would've muttered something about a pressing engagement on the other side of the continent and then fled.
And speaking of Marion Crane. . .
Anne Heche??? No. And again, no.
Marion Crane does something wrong, yes. But she's still supposed to be a sympathetic character. And in the original, she is. In the remake, I found myself sitting there going, "okay, get into the shower already". Not a good sign.
It was close to a shot-by-shot and line-by-line remake, which I found to be an interesting approach. Some of the things that Van Sant added in I liked, and some I didn't. I certainly didn't hate it, like many people on imdb apparently do (I love going to imdb and reading the reviews of some movies just so I can guess at which reviewers imploded out of sheer anger immediately after submitting their opinion).
Several people did ask why it was necessary, and my own take-- it wasn't. Strictly speaking, very few movies are 'necessary'. But I don't regret the four bucks I spent to grab it from the cheap-movie bin.
Oct. 5
Got a few new books today...one of them's a bit of a departure from what I normally read. Called "The Year My Life Went Down the Loo", by Katie Maxwell. It's teen fiction, but I thought the title was amusing so I checked out the back and the author-thank-yous, and decided that any writer who'd thank Oded Fehr for being 'dishy' enough to make her main character swoon had to be fun.
Correct.
I could definitely identify with the main character-- though I was never as makeup-savvy or as involved with the party scene, the email-addiction and the "why aren't there manuals detailing how to deal with the opposite sex" complaints were definitely familiar. And the idea of 'this new house is haunted, and I know it because a ghost keeps going through my underwear drawer' was priceless.
All in all, money well spent, and I recommend it for a quick, fluffy read.
Oct. 9
There are some songs that grate on my nerves the instant I hear them... "I Can Only Imagine" is one of them. First heard it on that MovieTunes tape that plays in theaters, and it made me cringe. ((same goes for Lonestar's "Amazed". Can't quite pinpoint why, but hearing either one of these songs puts me into Instant Homicidal Mode)).
The reason I mention this is because the radio at work played "I Can Only Imagine" today... but soon after, I also heard the 5th Dimension's "(Last Night) I Didn't Get to Sleep at All", so I forgave the DJ. ;-)
And on other good music news, I got my Mary Fahl CD in the mail today! She has a gorgeous voice.
Oct 22
Okay, now that I've recovered from the partying... ;-)
A couple of my friends and I went out to a bar-- they were having a karaoke night, so we sang a couple of times and danced and had a few drinks.
And one of the first songs that the DJ performed was "I Want You to Want Me"-- so I immediately headed for the dance floor, and a moment later the singer came up to me and held out the microphone so I could sing part of the chorus.
Good times. :-)
November 26
Happy me. My brother and I decided to watch a movie and I told him to pick it while I went about checking my email--
And a minute later I glance over at the TV to see that he's put in Broken Arrow.
I'm so proud of him. ;-)
I only saw that movie once at the theater (when we went to see it, it was the last night the theater had it) but when it came out on video, my cousin and I watched it four times in one evening. LOL
First, we watched it by ourselves, doing the whole giggling-teenagers thing (I was 14 and she was 15, and we're watching a Christian Slater movie. Yeah, I think you can guess) and then my other cousin wanted to watch it, so we watched it with him. Then my aunt wanted to see it, so we watched it with her, and then we went over to my house and my parents were curious, so...watched it again.
By now, I can quote *every* line in the movie. Hard to believe I first saw it almost 8 years ago. o_O
How time does fly when you're zoning. . .
Dec. 17
So on Sunday morning I'm sitting in a restaurant with my boyfriend and he's facing the TV and I'm not, and he looks up at it for a minute and says, "Hey, they captured him." And I look over at the TV.
And that's how I found out that they captured Saddam.
Dec. 23
I have now seen Return of the King twice. Very, very happy am I. Not sure how many spoilers I should put in here-- suffice to say that I really seriously wish I could have played Eowyn, if they have the song that Pippin sings on the soundtrack I'm going to buy it immediately, and as soon as the extended editions of all three are out on DVD I'm going to have one heck of a movie marathon. :-D
