Organizers of the Pentagon's 9/11 memorial Freedom Walk on Sunday are taking extraordinary measures to control participation in the march and concert, with the route fenced off and lined with police and the event closed to anyone who does not register online by 4:30 p.m. today.
Because goodness knows, nothing says Freedom Walk to me like fences and closed participation.
I'm honestly kinda surprised they're still going through with this. Seeing as this is money that could be put to much better use elsewhere right now. But then, the major costs have probably already been spent, so who knows. When I first heard about the idea, it just kinda struck me as off . . . "Hi! We're having a march and a concert to commemorate 9/11! And later on we're going to have a luau to commemorate Pearl Harbor!"
Eh.
