So Fox wins their lawsuit, and now they're going to try and stop the movie release.

It'd be nice if they'd just take the money, since this doesn't seem to be about much else-- it came up as soon as the movie started looking like it'd be successful (unlike the Fox version-- if I'm remembering right, didn't Rorschach have a love interest in their script??). I could be wrong, but it just sounds like moneygrubbing and sour grapes to me.

Also, I just want to see my movie dammit. ;-)

If they stop this damn movie from coming out millions of fanboys and indeed girls are gonna picket their studios something rotten. AND the judge. WE ALL want our goddamn movie!

The only good thing to possibly come out of this is if the people threatening to protest in costume actually follow through. :-)

I would pay to see that. I hope the cast do somethin as well, it's mean to just suddenly claim that they're protesting over this release, goddamn do it when you hear they're planning to make the thing, don't just do it when you feel like you're losing out on money.

Rorschach! Love interest! Bwahahaha.

Goddammit, Fox. Just ask for some money, what the fuck.

I know; I was like, "Did they read the book at all?!"

And yeah, I just wish they'd ask for a cut and be done with it.

Can't say I'm sympathetic to Fox, but Warners appears to be the one that fucked up the most here. If the legal issues were so obvious that the judge decided it *without a trial*, they should have been transparently obvious to Warners, too. That's what they have studio lawyers for.

Yeah, I'm sure Warners screwed up at several points down the line. I just tend to focus on Fox because of the whole waiting until it looks like the movie's going to bring in money before going, "Oh hey, wait! We've got a stake in this, by the way!"

But yes, double (and triple) checking copyright situations is always a good idea. :-)

Oh no, my husband is going to be so bummed if they do stop the release. He is looking forward to this movie like crazy. Watchmen is his favorite graphic novel and he has been so psyched since he saw the preview.

I went out and got the graphic novel a few months ago, and just fell in love with it. The previews have been amazing; the source material looked like it'd be really difficult to translate well to screen but they seem to have done a great job. And I will join your husband in extreme bummed-ness if the release is stopped.
