Post-apocalyptic setting! Strangers joining together to do battle! Angels carrying machine guns! Paul Bettany as the archangel Michael. This movie was made for me, people.

I find some of it trite; it depends on what's done with it. It's kinda like Greek mythology to me in that sense . . . "Okay, I know a lot of the base material, now show me your twist on it."

For instance, I've read slacktivist's take on Left Behind, and while I'm never going to read those books, if slacktivist ever did a novel in that genre? Mine in a hot second. :-) I also liked some of the short stories I read in the Right Behind section he links.
