Part of this entry under the cut due to questionable language. :-)
Overheard yet another gem of a conversation at work today:
Man: ". . . and that's what that Osama-- oops, I mean Obama-- was saying--" *chuckle*
Me: (thinking) "Ohhhh, I get it! You were making a joke by comparing a Democrat to a terrorist! That's so original and funny!" >_<
He went on like that for a couple of minutes, making fun of Barack Obama's name, and making me decide that I need a bunch of, "Kick me, I'm a moron" stickers to put on people's backs.
Also heard some guy using the word 'pussy' to mean 'coward' again. That always makes me twitchy. Not extremely so; it's use of the words 'f*ggot' or 'n*gger' (and yes, I do hear that one more than I'd like to at work) that make the "reevaluating your intelligence now" light in my brain come on, but it does give me pause.
I just never quite understood that use of the word. I mean, when talking about that area of the body-- women give birth, while if you give men a good tap they'll be cussing up a storm about it. But 'ballsy' means 'brave' and 'pussy' means 'weak'? Yeah.
Snarking aside, I did have a nice thing happen today-- a guy I know came up and asked how the book signing went, and said that he really enjoyed We Were Strangers: "No, seriously-- I don't normally sit down and read, especially fantasy, but that one was good." Cue huge dorky grin on my part. :-)
