Okay, when I told mom that I might try to lose a couple of pounds before the wedding because I tried on my dress again and it was a little snug around the middle, I did not mean "lose a couple of pounds by getting a cold and therefore not wanting to eat anything". Bah.

So I was sitting here, typing and sniffling and generally feeling sorry for myself and cursing at the entire planet every time I sneezed, and then mom and dad come back from some errand-running and mom hands me the DVD of Alone in the Dark.

Me: *purrrrrrrrrrrrr*

I know I mentioned that I'd write about Alone in the Dark as soon as we got back from the theater, but by the time we did it was late.

So, only slightly belated...

((and those of you who haven't seen it yet can read this safely; no major spoilers. Just goofiness))

First off, let's deal with the other reviews.

1) It wasn't nearly as bad as a lot of the critics are saying. But then, I'm used to thinking that about many movies I'm fond of. lol
2) Tara Reid wasn't abysmal in it. Did she deserve to win an Oscar? No, but there's only so much to be done with standard action-movie dialogue. She wouldn't have been my first choice, really (I would've been. Heh), but she was okay.

Overall, if it wasn't for a certain member of the cast, I probably wouldn't have seen it in the theater. And if my brain and my hormones could've actually had a conversation while watching this movie, this is what it would've been like....

Did some more wedding shopping today... got a pair of shoes (10 bucks! Go me), a pen for the guestbook, some confetti for the tables at the reception, and a washable marker so Ashley and my other friends can write on the getaway car.

I also got an enormous Hershey's Cookies 'n' Mint bar. Hooray, chocolate.

On to movie news-- since the Weather of Doom kept us in town yesterday, we went to go see Hide and Seek at the local theater. Pretty creepy bit of work, I liked it. And there wasn't much of a crowd, so we didn't have to deal with the teenybopper nitwits like we did during The Grudge. That was bad. ("People? I understand shrieking at the genuinely creepy parts. But there's nothing happening right now. Shut. Up.")

And I asked at our theater whether or not they were going to get Alone in the Dark; answer was no. So, guess who's getting the heck out of Dodge on Monday night. Heeheehee. I shall bring back a review. No promises on how coherent it will be. If you see an entry soon that just consists of 'meeeeeeeeeeeeeeep', now you know why.

I didn't ask about Phantom of the Opera yet, that's for later in the week. A second trip out of town might be required if I get another 'no' from them; I shall not be deprived of my elaborate-costume musicals. lol

I am hoping for Alone in the Dark, Million Dollar Baby, and Phantom of the Opera to come to our theater. Soon. Maybe all at once, so I can have a bizarre triple-feature. *S* For one thing, I got a couple of theatre gift certificates for Christmas, and I want to use them (oh, who am I kidding. I'll use up those certificates and half my next paycheck on just Alone in the Dark).

And I'm still waiting on Bride and Prejudice. The first reports I saw about it said something about it being released in December. Obviously not. So now I'm seeing February. No more delays, by order of me. Because I want to see it, and my word is law.

I wish.

Anyway, there are a few things out for rent now that I want to see, too. Like The Forgotten. Need to hit the rental store next weekend.

If I'm not sitting in the theatre, anyway. *fingers crossed*
