Yay for movie rental weekends. :-)

Had a few extra bucks to spare but not quite enough to go to the movies, so we hit Family Video. Got--

The Pacifier: Okay, so it's a kid's movie, but it's still cute and I'll still pick it up sometime. The scene where the girl tries to kick Vin Diesel's character and he grabs her foot and walks her back to her room cracked me up, partly because I learned at age eleven that that was exactly why you don't try to aim a kick above someone's ankle unless you're an expert.

Kung Fu Hustle: This fulfilled our stupid-comedy quota. Weird, weird, weird.

Sin City: I loved this. The style of it, the use of color-- some of the dialogue was a bit 'huh?' at first but then once you get fully into the film noir sense of the thing, it's incredibly cool. Might have to pick up the graphic novels sometime if I find them for a good price. Will definitely be grabbing the movie.

The Deal: I had no idea what this was about; I just saw Christian Slater on the cover and into the to-rent stack it went. ;-) Was a pretty neat little movie; centered around Wall Street and the oil business, and poor Chris fell asleep because he had no idea what was going on. LOL I didn't either at first-- it kindof reminded me of Rogue Trader in that sense (which centered on stock markets) because anything having to do with finances, Wall Street, stocks, etc. and the Confusion-O-Meter in my brain automatically maxes out. But hey, Christian Slater was in this and Ewan McGregor was in Rogue Trader, so of course I was going to check them out anyway. Once I was partway through both movies, I'd picked up enough of what was going on to actually understand, yay. This is exactly why I would never go into any profession involving numbers.
